KO G1 SoundBlaster

Wednesday, May 31st, 2006

Went to Metro Kajang with Anis to find 3V relays for my R/C DeathStinger project last Sunday. Didn’t find any. All 6V and above.

Went down to Giant after that. Then I spotted a shop in front of Giant. It had lots of KO toys >:) The shop was actually still Giant’s. Maybe for stock clearance perhaps.

Lots of KO’s. Saw SuperLink Superion Parts, enlarged, Micromasters and RobotMasters. Boring stuff.

Then Anis spotted someting good. It was a G1 SoundBlaster. Complete with Buzzsaw. RM15.00, angkut terus.

Once upon a time, SoundBlaster was very hard to get. Originally released in the Transformers:Headmasters line. In the cartoon, SoundBlaster is actually SoundWave rebuilt. SoundBlaster could hold 2 cassattes in its chest compared with SoundWave, only one.

Furthermore, it was japananese only. Prices could reach up to USD 1000 for MISB. Then Takara reissued it back some years ago. Still expensive though :p

See those red leg, they’re actually leg extention. Gives the impression of really long lengs. Same thing happened with my KO Perceptor too (same series, same manufacturer). Dunno what for. Maybe the KO designer has a foot fetish. Fret not, it’s removeable.

100_1254

Instructions at the back of the card were excruciatingly small to read. Hmm.. they also have Hot Rod …

100_1258

This pix is taken at my office. My boss cuti 2 hari. Muahahahaha …

Here you can see BuzzSaw and Ravage. The Ravage came with Perceptor. Sucky legs, now paw joint. Very loose and hard to stand properly. BuzzSaw head was loose too. Tends to tercabut when transforming from cassette to bird.

SoundBlaster was kinda good. Joints are quite tight except for the fist, which has no lock at all. Slides out in radio mode when you lit it. The chest is opaque as opposed to the original which was translucent orange.

100_1265

In radio mode, well, it’s a radio. Interestingly, did you know that the original Diaclone/Microman SoundWave version was a Walkman, complete with headphones. Thats why you don’t see any speakers at the sides of the tape deck like Blaster/Twincast.

The KO people didn’t bothered to put the battery compartment at the back. So the guns/battery had to be left behind when transforming into the radio mode.

As I said earlier, the tape deck can hold to cassettes. Have to push a little bit to fit the cassettes. It’s kinda tight. Besides, the cassettes finishing sucks. Very rough. Have to sand a bit.

OK la.. I think my RM 15 is prety much justified. Kesian kat Ravage, xde geng. Now he has BuzzSaw to play with…

Anyone know where to get KO Hot Rod ? >:)

Lunch dlm keta

Tuesday, May 30th, 2006

Yesterday, the MIMOS canteen was closed. Had no choice but to get lunch elsewhere.

Went to BK4, to get a burger. Burger ada, but roti xde la pulak at the stall. Went for Roti John instead. 2 options, big or small. Took the big one :p .The sky was already dark at that time.

Ada la pulak opismate call (will not disclose name here, he might be reading this :p), tanya makan kat mana, nak pesan. I said x tau lagi, tgh dok drive ni. Don’t want to buy him anything.

Ish.. karang bawak balik Roti John ni kang dia tanya pulak. I’d rather eat elsewere …

Lantak ko la … >:) Bila la ko nak ada transport sendiri, asyik nyusahkan orang je …

It started to rain. Heavily . Lepaked near the Kinrara Golf Club while munching my Roti John away in the car. In my mind I was laughing my ass out. MUahahahaha !!!! Lantak ko la … >:) (lightning+thunder in the background)

Nyum nyum … Loaded with cucumber and tomatoes. Nice chilli sauce too. Could do with more eggs though …

Abis makan, balik opis. It just been raining for 20 minutes (more like a storm to me). The water had rose a bit at the bridge near to my opis.

@#$@%$@^ Carabao !!!!

Monday, May 29th, 2006

Last friday was TransMy’s  X-Men III movie gathering. Prior to going to Sunway Pyramid for the movie, we lepaked at Asia Cafe.

Masa balik some stupid f@##@! letak a glass bottle at my car’s rear tyre. Glass bottle broke, puncturing the tyre.

Malas nak tulis banyak, read here, it’s been reported by others already  :

Anis : http://anisdash.blogs.friendster.com/spices_of_life/2006/05/bad_day.html

Crash : http://athenos.blogspot.com/2006/05/x-movie-men.html

To those yg datang menolong, timer kaceh bebanyak. Jasa Tuan/Puan/Encik/Cik/Datuk/Datin/Tan Sri/Puan Sri/Duke/Duchess (potong yg x berkenaan) amat dihargai.

The aftermath, tayar tu x leh pakai dah. The cut was too big, punctured through straight to the rim. Near to the sidewall too. Xleh tampal dah :( . Kopak RM100, tu pun tayar second-hand. Nasib baik x pakai Potenza ke, Turanza ke …

The culprit :

Carabao

Bakar kilang Carabao !!! Burn ‘em down !!! (must the those promoters, they approched me 3 times to test the damned drink. I declined :p Tu kira balas dendam la tu kot)

But then again, pikir2 balik, I could have lost my Kembara that night. Been reading some stories at Kembara.net where some car thief would actually purposely puncture the victim’s tyres on purpose. Then they wait for the driver and pretended to help change the tyres. Then the would hold the victim at knife-point and steal the car… scary …

Sigh.. Kembara’s are high-risk cars nowadays …

BURN ‘EM ALL !!!!

Hanabishi Portable Gas Stove

Tuesday, May 23rd, 2006

I don’t have any dapur gas at where I’m staying right now. Not cooking at home, so didn’t to bother to buy one. Maggi ? Just nuke it in the microwave.

Got it for 6000 Bonuslink points at Parkson. The gas can costs RM 2.90 at Carrefour.

Very small and convinient to carry to picnics and campings.

Comes with a durable plastic case too. Looks like the one from Kamen Rider 555/Faiz :p

Henshin !!!

Siputz

Tuesday, May 23rd, 2006

Went to watch ‘Over the Hedge’ last Saturday. Anis booked ‘early bird’ ticket on that day. The movie was enjoyable.

Since there was nothing else planned for that day, we decided to go merayau from Dengkil straight to Bagan Lalang (talk about nothing to do …)

On the way back from Bagan Lalang I spotted a small stall selling shellfish(siput le tu…). The Pakcik there was selling lokan. Very big ones too. RM 2.50 for a kilo.

Siput1

Look at the size of it. It’s lala on steroids.

Siput4

Throw it all the spanking new Hanabishi portable stove (got it for free ~ Bonuslink 6000pt). Let it cook like kerang bakar (yeah, like the one at most of the tomyam joints)

Siput2

Very plump and juicy. Albiet a little bit salty.

Experimented with garlic powder and pepper. Garlic powder was a bit overwhelming though.

Siput3

Next time I might try doing Portugese style barbeque. Should be nice.

KO Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006

Last Saturday, I was dead bored. Anis went back to Kuala Kangsar, so no dating on that day :P. Wanted to go out, but I was afraid I’d buy more toys. Must refrain myself … must simpan duit for car insurance … must get Sonic Bomber … nooo… +_+

Must find something else to do.

After digging deep in to the fridge, I found some cooking chocolate and peanut butter that’s due to expire in the next 2-3 month or something like that. The cooking chocolate was leftover from my last Vanilla Chocolate Mudpie experiment.

Hmm.. chocolate and peanut butter .. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups .. mmm … last time I had those were like 10 years ago. My cousin brought back some from US. They were yummy :p~ Can’t seem to get them here though …

Let’s do a KO version then. Went to the neighborhood mini market to get paper cups and some colorful chocolate rice.

Here the stuff that I found in the fridge

What I used (the measurements are not entirely accurate, based on perception only :P ):

50g Cooking chocolate
100g Cadbury Crunchie Chocolate Bar (not the long candy bar, this one is 90% chocolate 10% honeycomb stuff)
1 Tbs Butter
Peanut buter (I used the one with the chocolate stripes)
Chocolate rice

Break the chocolate into small pieces. Add butter. Don’t overdo the butter. Too much and your chocolate won’t set/solidify. The buter acts as an emulsifer for both type of chocolates to bind. Hey, I may be software programmer, but i took food science as an elective subject too.

Now, put everything into a microwave-safe bowl. Shove it into a microwave oven. Nuke it on HIGH for 2 to 2.5 minutes. Stir well when half way through. No microwave ? Use the boring double-boil technique instead.

Stir the chocolate mix well. In my case, the unmelted honeycomb stuff from the Crunchie bar gives it a slight grainy texture.

Put half a tablespoon chocolate into a paper cup. Level the base chocolate. Put in a blob of peanut butter on it. Cover with more chocolate mix on top of the peanut butter. Sprinkle with chocolate rice on top.

Put the completed ones into the fridge. Takes around 10-15 minutes to set. If you’re impatient, shove it into the freezer compartment >:)

There you have it. KO Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. The one above are pictured on top of a spring-form tin base - an artifact from the mudpie experiment (a good investment too :P ).

nyum nyum …

See the peanut butter oozing from the center … The Crunchie honeycomb stuff added some pleasant sweetness and some small degree of crunchiness to the bite. The peanut butter didn’t burst/squirt as imagined (too much imagination here..)

Fetched Anis later that evening. Went to Nelayan Titiwangsa to celebrate her birthday. Went back home. Gave Anis some of the chocolates. She liked it :D

Next time I’ll try Nuttella as the filling or maybe the yummy banana + hazelnut/chocolate spread that I bought last time at XTRA (now Giant) The Mines.

Drool….
